It has been a year since the announcement of Sound Architecture as HOLOPLOT’s exclusive distributor for Spain and Portugal. Then newly established in collaboration with AV specialist, Ilusovi Servicios, but already with significant expertise in the integration sector, the company immediately embraced the task of promoting HOLOPLOT X1 to the Iberian markets. One year on, and the company has gone from strength to strength and has been doing an exceptional job, says HOLOPLOT Regional Sales Manager, UK, EU and Nordics, Ian Holden.

Ilusovi’s goal has always been to offer comprehensive assistance for both permanent installations and temporary, dynamic projects. On recognising the potential of HOLOPLOT’s ground-breaking Matrix Array as an incredibly versatile tool that can be applied to scenarios where traditional sound systems fall short, they decided to make a significant investment in X1 and simultaneously created Sound Architecture.

Ilusovi’s first use of X1 was at the 2023 edition of the Starlite Occident festival in Marbella, a three-month long live music extravaganza that featured an impressive lineup of high profile artists. “We deployed it as a standard left / right system, using its precise control to overcome the challenges of the site’s notoriously tricky acoustics, and to cover the VIP area at the side of the stage without exciting the massive mountain behind it,” he continues.“The client was so happy with the superior audio experience at Starlite, they requested the system for another eight-day concert at the end of the year.” 

“This was quite an achievement,” says Holden. “Both festivals had high level, big name artists and the team did exceptionally well to support their FOH engineers, ensuring everyone was comfortable with the system.“

In line with their continued expansion, Ilusovi has recently expanded its HOLOPLOT rental stock. The beginning of the year saw them employ X1’s precise sound control at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and once again at this summer’s Starlite Festival.

This year’s edition incorporates all the learnings and added experience of 12 months working with the HOLOPLOT system and makes use of new software capabilities developed by HOLOPLOT since then.

The size of the left and right arrays remains the same as last year, with some extra modules added as front fills, but removing the flown center array. By adding more front fills, the array height could be omptimized, resulting in an even better coverage result for the audience area. Utilizing new software algorithms, the crew were able to increase output power and further improved time alignment.

The line up is as diverse as 2023 with a broad mix of genres. Van Morrison, Jamie Cullum, Sheryl Crow, Aitana, Vanessa Martín have all already taken to the stage with Take That, Tom Jones, Keane, Pablo Lopez and UB40 still to perform over the coming weeks. Feedback from visiting touring engineers has been highly positive, with all agreeing on the audible impact of sound control, especially in such a challenging outdoor quarry setting.
