Controlling sound like light

A fundamental game changer

When designing sound systems using conventional loudspeakers, be this a line array or point source solution, designers often have to compromise between sound clarity, volume, coverage and visual integration. For many venues, whether they are concert halls, stadiums, houses of worship, or transportation hubs, this means the audio quality is often lacking and distributed unevenly across the audience, suffering due to visual constraints, large distances, or acoustically challenging interiors.

At HOLOPLOT, we’re changing this narrative. Our customers no longer have to choose between style over substance.

Our Matrix Array products are a totally new concept for full-range loudspeaker systems, enabling control of sound in both the horizontal and vertical axis. Beamsteering algorithms enable our products to manipulate the wave form, allowing our sound systems to offer unbeatable Sound Control and customization of coverage zones, targeting and avoiding areas where sound is wanted and where it is not.

Based on the powerful combination of our core functionalities - 3D Audio-Beamforming and Wave Field Synthesis - our technology benefits a wide range of industries and applications, from live events to immersive exhibitions and speech-focused deployments.

1. Large-scale venues and arenas

Whether used for sports or concerts, arena events rely carrying emotions. Sound has the unique ability to communicate with, and excite the audience and with HOLOPLOT, you’re able to bring every member of the audience closer to the action through exceptional sound quality that raises heart rates and builds tension for that one iconic moment.

One of the biggest challenges in large venues like arenas and stadiums is maintaining consistent Sound Quality across vast distances that allow you to create such an atmosphere successfully. The uncontrolled nature of sound waves emitted via a conventional PA system often causes reflections, echoes, or dead spots that distract from the moments that matter.

Our technology can steer sound precisely to where it's needed. Instead of blasting sound indiscriminately across a venue, we use multiple beams per array to target specific sections of the audience. This allows each listener to experience clear, intelligible sound, regardless of where they are seated and without unnecessary sound spill into other areas - giving every performance the sound it deserves.

These inpidual beams also allow you to pide the space into different content areas. Imagine creating different fan zones, each receiving content relevant to them. Or turn zones on and off in line with venue use, reducing room excitation for unused seating areas and power consumption. The possibilities are endless.

Benefits for large venues:

  • Consistent Sound Quality for every seat in the house.
  • Flexible zone design for mutli-content and capacity management.
  • Seamless visual integration options, with the entire system disappearing behind LED or fabric screens.

2. Immersive experiences

Definitely a buzzword and term that’s sometimes difficult to interpret, yet more and more markets are relying on so-called ‘immersive’ experiences to enhance their offering. Whether it’s an explorative museum or gallery display, an interactive retail setup or theatre with 360 elements, all rely on the element of sound to direct the gaze.

Marrying the visual experience with sound can be challenging, however. Preventing audio bleed between sections can be a struggle, meaning sound is often a detrimental, rather than elevating factor of the overall experience.

Our unique Sound Control capabilities are overcoming these challenges, by allowing you to create highly controlled sound fields that enable multiple audio streams to coexist in close proximity without interfering with each other.

This level of control allows museums to create personalized soundscapes for each exhibit, without the need for headphones. As retailers start to create destinations, well-designed audio experiences reinforce visual aids, distribute information, and grab attention. Our 3D Audio-Beamforming capabilities allow you to create tightly controlled audio zones so you can distribute unique audio content around differently themed areas of different brands or restrict information sharing to specific points, rather than flooding the entire store with the same message.

Discoverable experiences often come with space constraints. Our technology can create Virtual Sources, creating localized audio without a speaker needing to be present in the same spot, ensuring seamless visual experiences uninterrupted by fixed loudspeaker positions. The combination of focus points, multi-zone content, and Virtual Sources provides sound designers with the ultimate toolbox to create without boundaries.

Benefits for immersive spaces:

  • Precise sound localization for inpidualized effects.

  • Targeted multi-content soundscapes without sound bleed.

  • Flexible visual integration possibilities thanks to advanced sound directionality.

3. Transportation hubs

Delivering clear audio in transportation hubs like airports, train stations, and subways is a major challenge due to high ambient noise levels and the vast size of these spaces. Public address announcements can often be difficult to hear, let alone understand, especially when the sound reverberates off hard surfaces or is drowned out by crowd noise.

Well designed spaces address all human senses to create harmonious, engaging environments and good acoustics and quality audio are an intangible, yet key element of our day-to-day experiences.

Thanks to 3D Audio-Beamforming, we can direct audio precisely to areas where passengers are located. This allows for high levels of speech intelligibility, critical for important announcements regarding safety, schedules, or emergency situations.

HOLOPLOT’s roots go back to public address system audio. Our proof-of concept loudspeaker, Orion was deployed inside a major train station in Germany, scoring some of the highest Speech Transmission Index (STI) measurements ever recorded on a station platform. They were so incredibly high, that the acoustic consultant wondered whether his measuring device was malfunctioning and re-ran the test - with the same unbelievable results of 0.61 STI over a 180m distance. For reference, an STI value of 0.5 would have already represented an enormous improvement for the station compared to the performance of their installed system.

With X2, we’ve created a product that makes the above unbeatable speech intelligibility accessible to more applications than ever before.

Benefits for transportation hubs:

  • Unbeatable speech intelligibility in complex environments and across large distances.

  • Software-controlled systems for extra flexibility.

  • Easily concealable, compact product range for subtle visual integration.

4. Houses of Worship

Houses of worship present unique acoustic challenges. Designed to impress, they often include hard surfaces such as large glass windows and stone walls. These environments provide beautiful acoustics for choral music but have a detrimental effect on the clarity of the spoken word.

Our technology is able to deliver quality listening experiences in any space - all without the need for excessive acoustic treatment that can compromise the architectural vision, ensuring that worshippers, no matter where they sit, can hear clearly, elevating their spiritual experience and allowing for a closer connection.

Our Sound Control capabilities deliver messages clearly to the entire congregation, creating intimacy even in vast, cavernous spaces. By reducing unwanted reflections, we ensure that speech and music are both clearly heard, enhancing the emotional and communal aspects of worship.

Benefits for houses of worship:

  • Fully concealable for seamless visual integration.

  • Reduced sound reflection and echoes.

  • Enhanced emotional engagement through better Sound Quality.

5. Corporate and educational spaces

In corporate and educational settings, audio plays a vital role in communication, whether during presentations, conferences, or collaborative discussions. Poor sound quality or uneven distribution in these settings can significantly impact productivity and engagement caused by listening fatigue.

Our audio solutions provide corporate meeting rooms, auditoriums, and classrooms with a way to direct sound where it’s needed most via optimized coverage zones. For larger conference centers and multi-purpose event spaces, this also means a higher degree of flexibility when it comes to piding a room into multiple breakout rooms and listening areas for example. Our systems are easy to operate via presets, making them operable by non-technical staff as well.

Benefits for corporate and educational spaces:

  • Focused audio for better communication during presentations or discussions.

  • Visual unintrusive system that’s easy to operate via presets

  • Enhanced collaboration and learning through clear, intelligible sound.
